The Burnett Honors College offers over $200,000 annually in scholarships. Scholarships are awarded in the fall and spring semesters to current Honors students in good standing with outstanding qualifications. Awards range from major-specific to study abroad scholarships and all eligible students are encouraged to apply. Click on the links below for specific information on each scholarship.
Also housed in The Burnett Honors College is the Office of Prestigious Awards (OPA), which assists all UCF students in pursuing prestigious scholarships and fellowships such as Rhodes, Truman, Goldwater, and Marshall. All scholarship applications must be compiled in PDF format in the order listed on the application form in order to be considered.

The CFE Provost's Scholarship Essay Contest will award three scholarships based on a 500 -700 word essay judged by a faculty committee. This scholarship is available to all University Honors Freshmen who are enrolled in Honors Symposium each Fall and made possible by through the generosity of the Central Florida Educator’s Credit Union (CFE).
The winning essays will be submitted to the on-line collection, and presented at the Provost's Symposium.
Awards: $1,500 First Place, $1,000 Second Place, $500 Third Place

[accordion-item title="Beth Juge Memorial Scholarship" state=closed]
The Beth Juge Memorial Scholarship was established to commemorate the life of Beth Juge and support high achieving, underrepresented Honors students in the Sciences.
Beth Juge graduated from Kansas University in 1966 with a B.S. degree in Chemistry, one of the few women graduates in the Sciences. She was hired by Shell Oil Co., in Houston, Texas as a quality control chemist. It was there that she met her future husband, Frank Juge, who was employed as a Research Chemist. In 1967 they were married, and in 1968 they moved to Orlando, Florida, when her husband joined the faculty of Florida Technological University (now UCF) as a charter member of the faculty. In August of 1995 she underwent surgery for Colon Cancer, and after a courageous six-year battle against the disease she passed away in May of 2001. In her memory her friends and family established the Beth Juge Scholarship.
This scholarship is available to Burnett Honors College students who are majoring in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields with 90 credit hours or less completed.

[accordion-item title="The Grocery Manufacturers’ Representatives Scholarship" state=closed]
The Grocery Manufacturers’ Representatives Scholarship was established by The Florida Grocery Manufacturers’ Representative group (GMR) in 2013 to support UCF Burnett Honors College Business students who are interested in careers in the consumer packaged goods and/or food industry. The GMR exists to foster the interaction and development of Florida grocery industry professionals.
Two GMR scholarships are awarded annually. One GMR scholarship of $2,000 is awarded each Fall and Spring semester. Eligible recipients must be Business students who have a GPA of 3.3 or better. Recipients will be selected based on their academic record, leadership, community activities and work experience. Student awardees are encouraged to attend one Florida GMR networking event annually.

IB Scholars Program is designed for Honors students to pursue International Business Semester Abroad Programs at Tilburg University in Tilburg, Netherlands, IQS Universitat Ramon Llull in Barcelona, Spain, or ICN Business School at the University of Nancy in Nancy, France.

The Dorothy Gillespie Art Scholarship provides awards to students enrolled in the Burnett Honors College. The Scholarship will be awarded annually and paid on a semester basis. This scholarship fund honors the life of artist Dorothy Gillespie. During her career, Dorothy contributed to the women’s art movement and was well known as a painter, sculptor, and installation artist whose work encompassed many significant 20th century trends in art.
This scholarship is available to Burnett Honors College students of any major, but preference is given to underrepresented minorities, specifically women and women studying the arts or arts education.

The purpose of the Allyn M. Stearman Scholarship is to recognize outstanding Honors students who demonstrate the academic and leadership qualities embodied by the founding Dean of The Burnett Honors College, Dr. Allyn Stearman.
Allyn McLean Stearman received her Ph.D. from the University of Florida and took her first faculty position at the University of Central Florida specializing in cultural anthropology. Dr. Stearman's research focused on cultures of Latin America, with particular interest in cultural ecology, native Amazonians, problems of developing nations, and women in agriculture. She is now retired and living in Bolivia, where she conducted the majority of her research. Among her publications are two books titled “No Longer Nomads: The Siriono Revisited,” and “Yuqui: Forest Nomads in a Changing World.”
The Allyn M. Stearman Scholarship will be awarded annually in the amount of $1,000. This scholarship will be awarded to the student who best exemplifies:
- A love of learning that transcends disciplinary and geographical/cultural boundaries. Evidence for this should be demonstrated by coursework beyond the requirements for a major or minor and/or research and co-curricular activities that cross traditional disciplinary boundaries.
- Academic excellence and creativity
- Leadership skills

[accordion-item title="Emerging Leader Scholarship" state=closed]
The Emerging Scholars Award was founded collaboratively by Burnett Honors College alumni S. Jonas (’01), R.J. Salzman (’00), Lauren Murphy (’12), and Sandra Miles (’03, ’05) in the spring of 2012. This award is an institutional scholarship recognizing the achievements and potential of students in STEM and Social Sciences early in their academic careers. An annual $1,000 award will support Burnett Honors College students who show promise in leadership, public service, and research within their field of study.
Each application must provide the following:
- A personal statement of no more than 500 words on future academic plans, educational intentions, and career pursuits as well as motivation for pursuing this path.
- A resume or CV.
In selecting the scholarship recipient, the committee will consider the following elements:
- The recipient must be a full-time student in the Burnett Honors College, and have completed two semesters at UCF.
- Students must be STEM or Social Science majors.
- The recipient must have a GPA of at least 3.5 of higher.
- Applicant must be a US citizen.
- Application will demonstrate ability in two of the three categories: Leadership, Public Service, Research

[accordion-item title="Katherine Keller Scholarship" state=closed]
The Katherine Keller Scholarship recognizes outstanding Honors students who demonstrate the academic and leadership qualities embodied by past Director of the Honors Program, Dr. Katherine Keller.
At the University of Toronto, Dr. Keller completed her B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. with an emphasis on 17th-Century drama. Her first academic position was at LaSalle College in Philadelphia. Afterward, she joined the English Department at UCF in 1984. While in the English Department, she chaired the committee that created Honors in English program, one of the first of the HIM programs at UCF. Dr. Keller also chaired the University Honors Advisory Committee and subsequently served as the Director of UCF’s Honors Program (1994-1996). Following her tenure at UCF, Dr. Keller served as the Associate Dean of Columbian College of Arts and Sciences at George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
One $1,000 award will be made to the student who best exemplifies:
1. A commitment to helping others achieve academic potential.
2. Academic excellence, including the ability to communicate ideas clearly.
3. Leadership skills.

The Pham Honors Academic Merit Scholarship was established by Mr. T Pham (’98), a Burnett Honors College alumni with a degree in Finance. Mr. Pham graduated with University Honors and the Honors in the Major distinction while serving in several student leadership capacities while at UCF, including as an Honors Team Leader. The Pham Academic Merit Scholarship supports high achieving Honors students annually who demonstrate academic excellence and leadership with a $1,000 award.

In order to be eligible students must:
- Be full-time and in good standing with The Burnett Honors College.
- Have a 3.5 GPA or higher.
- Have 60 or more credit hours.
- Submit a personal statement of not more than 500 words that demonstrates academic excellence and personal leadership qualities.
Additionally, preference will be given to University Honors student who are also pursuing Honors in the Major or those who are engaged in a leadership position within the college, but this is not a requirement for eligibility.

The Dupuis Memorial Scholarship was established by Burnett Honors College Associate Dean, Dr. Martin Dupuis and his sister Alison Clemence, in honor of their parents. The purpose of the award is to recognize outstanding scholar athletes in the Burnett Honors College. The Burnett Honors College partners with the nine undergraduate colleges, three regional campuses (Cocoa, Daytona, and Palm Bay), and Interdisciplinary Studies in sponsoring Honors in the Major (HIM) Scholarships. These $1,000 scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis within each college/campus to eligible students enrolled in HIM credit hours (either Directed Readings or Thesis hours). All HIM students are strongly encouraged to apply for these scholarships. For more information about these scholarships, students should contact the Honors Representative of their college about the application process and deadlines. [accordion-item title="Student-Mentor Academic Research Teams Grant" state=closed]
The purpose of the Student-Mentor Academic Research Teams (SMART) Grant is to foster undergraduate research at UCF among sophomores and juniors. This grant provides funding for students and their research mentors. All SMART grant recipients must submit a written research report or some other product of research activity and an introspective statement regarding the value of their research experience to The Burnett Honors College at the conclusion of the semester during which they have enrolled in a Directed Individual Research course. Students currently receiving other UCF undergraduate research grants are not eligible to apply. The Burnett Honors College awards scholarships to University Honors and Honors in the Major students in good academic standing pursuing Study Abroad programs. Applicants must have completed at least one year of coursework at UCF. Selection is competitive, and is based on academic achievement, a letter of recommendation, and a 1,000-word essay. Students may apply in advance of or concurrently with acceptance to a study abroad program. However, if awarded, scholarship funding is contingent upon enrollment in a study abroad program.
To apply:
- Check “Honors” on the Study Abroad application which reads “I am a member of the Honors College or participate in Honors in the Major program.”
- Check other applicable boxes.
- Submit a 1,000 word essay that discusses how you selected your Study Abroad program and how you expect this program to impact your academic and career goals.
- Submit 1 letter of recommendation from an academic instructor, advisor, or supervisor. *Important: The letter of recommendation request cannot be emailed to your reference until after you submit your application. Please consult your Study Abroad program advisor for more information regarding the processing timeline for applying for programs and scholarships.

[accordion-item title="Sara Marti Scholarship for Study Abroad" state=closed]
The Sara Marti Scholarship for Study Abroad was established by Sara Marti, a 2005 UCF and Burnett Honors College graduate. This award was designed by Ms. Marti to give back in a way that would help make a difference in a world where international relations are increasingly more difficult.
Ms. Marti, a Foreign Service Officer with the U.S. State Department, originally became interested in a career in Foreign Service when a fellow honors student encouraged her to pursue an internship at the U.S. Embassy in Singapore. Sara was later awarded the prestigious Rangel Fellowship by the Department of State, which provided her an opportunity to pursue a graduate degree in International Relations at the University of Denver and various opportunities with US Embassies worldwide.
The scholarship is available to Burnett Honors College students who participate in a study abroad, international immersion or international internship program.

The Blanchet Family established the Endowment for International Study to encourage Honors students to better understand the cultural realities and opportunities of today’s increasingly globalized world.
Eduardo and Silvia Blanchet are both former Argentine diplomats who served in the Soviet Union and Austria before retiring in the U.S. Three of their children, Noel (’06), Daniela (’08), and Gaston (’09) enjoyed profound international experiences as UCF Honors students while studying abroad.
Owing to this global experience, all four of Silvia and Eduardo’s children today enjoy fruitful international careers in film production, technology, and education. With this scholarship, the Blanchet family hopes to support globally minded students who are open to foreign experiences that will likely create an enduring impact on their lives.

The Kathryn Busch Foreign Affairs Internship Award was established by Stephanie Parenti ’11, a Burnett Honors College alumna, in honor of her grandmother. This award is designed to support students who participate in unpaid internships in the foreign affairs field abroad. Students with an interest in working for the Department of State, the United Nations, NATO, and other important institutions that help build international relationships should consider applying. Through this investment in student development, Ms. Parenti hopes to help make a positive difference in the global community.
Ms. Parenti, a Foreign Service Officer for the U.S. Department of State, names this scholarship to recognize her grandmother, Kathryn Busch, who always encouraged her to follow her dreams to make the world a more peaceful place. With courage and confidence instilled by her grandmother, Ms. Parenti was awarded the Thomas R. Pickering Foreign Affairs Fellowship as UCF senior. She went to receive her MA in Diplomacy and International Relations from Seton Hall University and now travels the world working in various embassies to improve the international relations with the United States.
